Sindragosa is undoubtedly an iconic World of Warcraft character, whether players know her full story or otherwise. Perhaps the best-loved World of Warcraft cinematic trailer of them all featured her being raised as a possible undead frost wyrm by Arthas himself, her immense size and bone-chilling roar as a possible unforgettable symbol on the expansion. Sindragosa has also been featured as one of the major bosses in Wrath with the Lich King’s final raid, Icecrown Citadel, where she met her final end and located peace now. That makes her appearance in Dragonflight much more surprising.

Sindragosa Is One of World of Warcraft's Most Tragic Villains

The story of Sindragosa begins to be a member of the Blue Dragonflight, consort to its Aspect, Malygos the Spell-Weaver. When Deathwing betrayed each one of dragon kind 10,000 years past, he tripped a weapon referred to as Dragon Soul. The resulting explosion tore the Black Aspect’s body apart, even so, the blue dragons suffered the worst from it. Malygos attempted to shield his brethren with magic, but also in an instant practically every blue dragon was hit, including Sindragosa.

The blast in the Dragon Soul flung her far away towards the icy glaciers atop Northrend. She lay there dying, shouting for Malygos or some of her brethren to rescue her, but nobody did. Sindragosa died a sluggish and lonely death, her body encased in ice for millennia until Arthas raised her together with his rune blade, twisted with grief and rage. She was one of the Lich King’s most robust soldiers, but she too fell within the onslaught of Azeroth’s heroes.

Kalecgos, the brand new Aspect in the Blue Dragonflight, sought ways to rebuild his family, learning valuable lessons through the entire Azure Span in Dragonflight. When he finds the Azure Oathstone, a relic signifying the Blue Dragonflight’s promise to defend Azeroth’s magic, a figure approaches him. Players soon recognize that this may be the visage of Sindragosa, as all dragons are designed for choosing a mortal form for making interactions with mortals easier.

Kalecgos realizes that this isn't the real Sindragosa, a magical incarnation of her consciousness left behind to safeguard the Oathstone. This version of Sindragosa was saddened to listen to what happened to both her and her beloved consort, Malygos, and ultimately helps Kalecgos restore the Azure Oathstone, giving players insight into the genuine personality of one from the Icecrown Citadel’s most iconic villains.

Sindragosa’s knowledge and dedication have impacted the Blue Dragonflight within the present time and can carry on as Kalecgos rebuilds the flight to its former glory.

That being said, Sindragosa continues to be remembered by many since the tyrannical frost wyrm that brought mayhem and terror toward the Lich King’s enemies. Her being raised in the dead in Wrath in the Lich King’s trailer cinematic remains a wonderful visual feast. Her piercing screams of fury could be experienced by players both in World of Warcraft and World of Warcraft: Wrath from the Lich King Classic, where she soars on top of the black skies of Icecrown, stuffed with bitter anguish.
